There is something uniquely aggravating about preparing dinner, getting everything set and on the table, sitting down and comfortable and ready to dig in, and then realizing you have forgotten a necessary utensil. Now, lives have certainly (or rarely, at least) been lost over such a situation, but the energy required to get up and retrieve said utensil seems to be much greater than the energy required to launch a space craft into orbit around the Earth. Hence, it is always a good idea to have a box of assorted silverware with you at all times. Always.
